Guest Update
Natalia Laluque has a big project in the works, so we've decided
to update her page to show five of her thirty new pieces. This series
of paintings on canvas using oils and collage, blends traditional
and nontraditional, historical and contemporary Canadian symbols,
melding Canadian and immigrant experiences and perspectives into
an integrated iconography of Canada and its people. |

NATALIA
LALUQUE
She knew little about Canada before emigrating from Ukraine in
2003. Wandering Toronto has taught her a lot. She immersed herself
in Canadian contemporary culture and history--Queen Elizabeth, Canadian
geese, kayaks, snowshoes--through the Goodwill bookshelves. Her
new work uses paint, charcoal, photocopy technology and projection,
both singly or in combination.
